What's happening in our world

Mr & Mrs Grape Update

Now that the “silly season” is officially behind us we can come up for some air, enjoy some leisure time and finally get to updating everyone with what is happening in our world! We had our biggest 2 months so far in December & January – running 58 individual tours, which certainly kept us out of mischief.

Dog friendly wine tours - Pawesome Tours

Some of the faces of our latest Pawesome Guests

We are well & truly into summer, enjoying beautiful clear, sunny days, beach trips with the fur-babies and regularly going kayaking on the Margaret River whenever we get a day off together. Some of the vineyards have already began harvesting their chardonnay and the veils have gone on the vines – Vintage 2018 is upon us!

Watching the sunset at Surfers Point and eating fish & chips from the Hooked up Fish & Chip food van is now a weekly occurrence – if you are down here over summer definitely don’t miss out – take a picnic, a bottle of vino and pack warm clothes because it’s always cold there!

We attended the WA Tourism Awards as finalists in November 2017 – unfortunately we didn’t take out a place but we had a great night celebrating with Harvest Tours & Southwest Eco Discoveries – all of us were honoured to be there!

WA Tourism Awards

Our biggest news yet….

We are excited to announce that we are expecting a little grape this winter – after a long road to get here which included lots of consolations such as buying a French bulldog one year, a BMW purchase another year, moving to Margaret River & starting a wine tour business last year – Baby “Grape” Lanyon is due early August.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE REGION

  • Rustico Rocks Rosé – an event on Saturday 24th February at Hay Shed Hill – celebrating the delicious Rosé s of the region – if you can’t come & make a weekend of it they are even organising a return bus-trip from Perth for the day – 9am til 9pm.. we imagine the return trip home will be a fun one for the first hour and a whole lot of snoring for the last 2hrs.

  • Worlds Largest Cheese Tasting – Sunday 25th Februrary at Margaret River Dairy.. but wait – you are required to eat 3 pieces of cheese at this event or you will not be allowed to enter (first world problems).

ACCOMMODATION

We have discovered a few great dog friendly places to stay while you are visiting the region!

  • Bay 38 Holiday House – for absolutely beachfront and walking distance to Dunsborough town – you can’t go past this place. It is elegantly decorated, opposite the most pristine dog friendly beach around and it is only 5 minutes to walk into all the café’s and bars in town. As an added bonus it has a large enclosed grassed backyard.

  • Happy Dogs – this chalet is walking distance to Margaret River town with a large enclosed grassed backyard. We stayed there before we moved to Margaret River on a few occasions and the hounds loved it! They have recently built another chalet and it looks amazing – they still have availability for Easter but get in quick!

WINE OF THE MOMENT

Mrs Grape is enjoying lots of mocktails – Elderflower Cordial, Mineral water with fresh squeezed lime & mint is a current favourite – of course this would taste much better with a dash of Limeburners gin but you know… next summer!

Mr Grape is still having a love affair with Chardonnay – so much in fact that we are going to a Chardonnay themed dinner party this weekend. The Victory Point Chardonnay has been a favourite of ours for quite some time now – it’s like lemon curd… Victory Point is a fabulous small winery in Cowaramup with some of the best wines this region has to offer! They don’t have a cellar door just yet but let us know if you are interested and we will see what we can do to organise a special visit!

"You have only so many bottles in your life, never drink a bad one."

Len Evans

We hope to see you in the region soon!
